I’m one of those Type A guys who knows a lot of people. I guess you could say I’ve been blessed with more than my fair share of friends and acquaintances. In fact, I thrive on those relationships just like many of you do. When you get right down to it though, even the Type B person knows at least a few people and probably has even deeper relationships with a smaller number of people. As we go through life, we each build relationships of all types–some just acquaintances, some close friends or relatives and probably some that are quite intimate. My point here is simple, and I hope you find it profound: There’s no relationship that’s more important than the relationship you have with Jesus Christ. This being true, why do we often spend more time on even our most superficial human relationships than we spend on our relationship with our Lord and Savior?
“Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself.” 2 Timothy 2:11-13
