Remember the account of the Last Supper where Jesus told the disciples that one of them would betray Him? Can you imagine being there when Jesus finally told them that the inside job was being done by their good friend Judas? Later they would learn that it was by God’s design that Judas was willing to sell Jesus out, but they would also come to learn that not only Judas was to blame for Jesus death. They all were! And when Jesus had predicted that “the one who has dipped his had into the bowl with me” would betray Him, they had ALL dipped their hand into that bowl-and each of them had stumbled into sin too! Just like those twelve, we have all sold Jesus out in one way or another. And that’s all the more proof that we all need Him! Just as He forgave his early disciples, His forgiveness is available for us as well. We simply need to accept our need for Him, and only Him!
And while they were eating, he said, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me.” They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, “Surely not I, Lord?” Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me.” Matthew 26:21-23
