If It’s The Lord’s Will

If you took a survey and asked people what they were going to do tomorrow, or maybe even this weekend, I bet most of them could give you the “who, what, why, when, where and how” of the whole plan. Here’s some interesting Scripture on that thought process.

“Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.'” James 4:13

(Or maybe my annotated version will make it clearer…)

“Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow [when] we [who], will go to this or that city [where], spend a year there [how], carry on business [what] and make money [why].'” James 4:13

Sometimes it seems like we’ve got it all figured out! We don’t even know if we’ll breath another breath!

Here’s the “rest of the story.”

“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’ As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil.” James 4:14-16
