Every few years I used to get a real bad case of “new car fever.” I don’t know if you’ve ever been there or not, but the disease has quite a few close relatives… “new video game fever” and “new clothes fever” are also quite common. Among teenagers we often find drastic cases of “first car fever,” a second cousin to the disease I’ve suffered from. These diseases can be quite debilitating, actually taking your mind off of just about everything else in life. Family, friends, God, etc., can all fade into a blur quite easily until the fire has been quenched. What’s even worse is that after the animal has been fed, it’s usually only a few days before it realizes the object of its desire hasn’t done the trick. Without an act of God, the disease is incurable–it usually leads to complete and total blindness to everything except the newest “fever.” “The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods [stuff].” Psalm 16:4a In Christ, PastorJimKilby @Kibin8er Jim@JamesKilby.com
