If I were to hand you a map of France, and ask you to show me how to get to Los Angeles, would you be able to do it? Pretty difficult, huh? Or should we say, “impossible!” Before I was saved I used try to do something similar quite frequently. I would tell anybody who tried to talk to me about “religion” that the God I knew wouldn’t do this, and would do that, all based on what I “thought” about God. Of course, I couldn’t tell anybody anything based on intelligent thinking, because I made the whole thing up from how I “felt” God would be like. Since I hadn’t read the Bible, everything I believed was a joke, and everything I said was meaningless! Kind of like trying to tell someone all about this new movie when you hadn’t seen the movie, or even the promos! I was driving like mad on my way to heaven, but I was using a map that only leads to hell!
Are you trying to please God, or get yourself a ticket into heaven based on what you “think” or “feel” God wants from you? If so, you need to take a detour immediately! Satan loves to use our feelings and our earthly thoughts to lead us down the path of destruction. Oh, one more thing… here’s the real map to heaven!
