If I were to hand you a map of France, and ask you to show me how to get to Los Angeles, would you be able to do it? Pretty difficult, huh? Or should we say, “impossible!” Before I was saved I used try to do something similar quite frequently. I would tell anybody who tried to talk to me about “religion” that the God I knew wouldn’t do this, and would do that, all based on what I “thought” about God. Of course, I couldn’t tell anybody anything based on intelligent thinking, because I made the whole thing up from how I “felt” God would be like. Since I hadn’t read the Bible, everything I believed was a joke, and everything I said was meaningless! Kind of like trying to tell someone all about this new movie when you hadn’t seen the movie, or even the promos! I was driving like mad on my way to heaven, but I was using a map that only leads to hell!
Are you trying to please God, or get yourself a ticket into heaven based on what you “think” or “feel” God wants from you? If so, you need to take a detour immediately! Satan loves to use our feelings and our earthly thoughts to lead us down the path of destruction. Oh, one more thing… here’s the real map to heaven!
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” John 3:16-18
“If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
