Through the years I’ve been the recipient of quite a few weird e-mail responses to my devotional efforts. Some of them are just plain funny, but honestly, some have been so mean even I have been shocked. In a world where we can interact via e-mail, Facebook, etc., some people feel completely free to “let-er-rip” within the anonymity provided by their keyboard. Frankly, it’s not much different than people sending hand signals to one another through lanes of traffic. They feel protected by the steel that surrounds them; their gas pedal being the emergency escape route. For Christians, however, Jesus doesn’t give us an “out” when we communicate with our computers, from our cars, or otherwise. The “Golden Rule” is ALWAYS in play. And a few manners go a loooong way.
“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” Jesus (Matthew 7:12)
