A Mighty Warrior?

Do you ever wonder if you’ve got what it takes to make it through life as a solid Christian? Does it ever seem like the world is crashing down around you as you slave away in your glass house? Just make one mistake and Satan will be right there to point it out to you — his minions standing there with fingers aimed squarely at you. Well, neither you nor I are the first to wonder if we’ve got the right stuff. Check out this quote by the famous Gideon, who saved his people from the seemingly unbeatable Midianites:

“But sir,” Gideon replied, “if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our fathers told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up our of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian.”

The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”

“But Lord,” Gideon asked, “how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” Judges 6:13-15

Seems like our famous Gideon was somewhat of a coward — even with the Lord telling Him it was O.K. Well, the Lord is still telling us it’s O.K — to go out under the power of His Holy Spirit. And the Lord knows something you don’t know.. just like He knew Gideon was a winner before Gideon even knew it. Check out the first words the “angel of the Lord” spoke to Gideon:

When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “the Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” Judges 6:12

In Christ,
