A Purse With Holes In It!

Do you ever feel like the harder you work the more behind you get? Do you run out of money before you run out of month? It’s often hard to continue to trust in the Lord when your debt is mounting and anguish is setting in. I know, because I’ve been there more than I care to mention. God often gets our attention through trials like these. Through the prophet Haggai he was essentially saying, “Your priorities are not my priorities — your eyes are on yourself!”

“Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai: ‘Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled house, while this house remains a ruin?’ Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.’ Haggai 1:3-6

If you’re struggling to make ends meet, grab a Bible and read this short book sometime today. Most folks can read both chapters in less than five minutes. What have you got to lose?

In Christ,
