A Turning?
From time-to-time, the Spirit of God allows me to lead another person to the Lord. One of the greatest pleasures is to see that person really take off and grow in their faith. I know several young people who’ve completely given their lives over to the Lord–and I mean their whole lives! What an awesome turning that is–and what a site to behold. On the contrary though, just like in the parable of the sower, some who come to the Lord almost immediately start to run the other direction. There are several theological ways to look as such an occurrence, but I try to keep things simple if I can. If you have a desire to grow in the Lord, to read and learn from His Word, and to serve your fellow man, you probably are already aware you’re being changed from within. If nothing has changed–if your desire for what the world offers is stronger than any other desire, you need to revisit the decision you made to follow Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. The bottom line: Unless there has been a turning in your life; unless you are a new creation, your salvation is most likely in question.
“Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed their evil deeds. A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas [tens of millions in today’s dollars]. In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.” Acts 19:18-20
