Anguish!

There’s not much evil Jesus didn’t endure during His last day on Earth; tortuous beatings, being mocked and spit on, and being nailed to a cross just for starters. Still, it’s well understood by the scriptural accounts of His last day that only one thing ever made Him cry out in anguish…

“At the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”–which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Mark 15:34

It was only when the Father was forced to turn away from the sin Christ was bearing that Jesus was overwhelmed with grief. If we really understood what it meant to be “one with the Father” we’d be crying out in anguish, too! Unfortunately, most of us are preoccupied with self gratification to even consider the thought.
