Apart From The Vine

I [Jesus] am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  John 15:5

My wife and I are going through a Bible study book together with a few friends.  Recently we had to memorize the above verse (John 15:5) as one of our assignments.  Even though it was a couple of weeks ago, I still have the scripture coming to mind over and over again.  Usually that means the Lord is trying to say something to me.  In this case, He’s most likely pointing out to “Mr. Busy” that ‘apart from HIM, I can do nothing!’  It doesn’t matter how busy we are as Christians, but rather are we doing the work He would have us doing…. And are we doing it in His time and in His way.  If we’re not in direct and continuous communication with our Lord, then how can we possible “remain in Him.”  Maybe you’ve been fooled like I am from time-to-time… Maybe Satan also has YOU running the race full blast, so you’ll never get a chance to connect with Jesus.  That’s just the way the enemy likes it!

Can you hear Jesus calling you?  “Hey _______ (insert name), apart from ME you can do NOTHING!  And anything you DO will amount to NOTHING if I’m not in on it!  Let’s sit down together for a while and just chat!”

In Christ,
