Are You Wholehearted?

I’ve been asking the Lord for an answer to a very specific question for a couple of weeks now. For some reason I’ve either not received an answer or I didn’t notice when I did receive it. I guess I hadn’t given it much thought until I read this very familiar piece of scripture today. As soon as I read it, I thought of my seemingly unanswered prayer.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13

As always, His Word rings true! I’ve been approaching Him with a cursory “Hey Lord, what about this and that” type of inquiry. His Spirit searches and knows our hearts better than we do. Some of my prayers have slipped into a “checklist” type of mode and He knows it.

Heavenly Father, forgive me for my selfishness and my unwillingness to give you back a realistic piece of the day you’ve given me. I’ve treated our conversations like I treat many of the other items on my “To Do” list. I’m sorry, Father. Please help me to seek you, Lord — help me to keep my thoughts trained on you throughout the day. And thank you once again for your timeless Word. In Jesus’ name I pray.

In Christ,
