Are You Withholding Information?

I was speaking with a young Christian girl the other day.  She was telling me about her relationship with a good friend of hers.  It seems they’ve been friends for years and I suppose they’re typical young girls.  You know the drill, spending the night at each other’s homes, hanging out at the mall, talking about boys, sharing intimate secrets, etc.  The kind of stuff  “guys” wouldn’t be caught dead doing!  Well, as we’re discussing a situation that arose with her young friend, I asked what I thought was an easy question.  I simply said, “Is she a Christian?”  What my young church goin’, bible totin’ friend said is still ringing in my ears today.  She quietly said, “I don’t know.”

If you’ve been given the most valuable piece of information ever entrusted to a human being, why in the world would you keep it to yourself?  Are you afraid of being rejected by your friend?  If so, that fear is the work of the Devil.  I suggest you’re not really being a friend at all.  Think logically for a minute…   How would you feel if your friend died tomorrow?  How would you feel if you learned they were cast into the lake of fire?

“They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.  But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:4-5
