Are Your Chores Done?

When I was a young man I had to learn and obey the “rules of the house” if I wanted to take the path of least resistance! My brother and sisters and I got things figured out pretty well right from the start. We even knew precisely when to ask our dad for things we wanted. There were simply “good times” and “bad times.” For example, you definitely didn’t want to ask him for anything right after he got home from work. Also, if you asked for anything during the evening news, the answer was always, “No!” We also knew that all our chores had to be done before asking anything–it was the first question he would ask. Many Christians take this approach with their heavenly Father, too, tiptoeing around the throne room like they might get hit or something! Fortunately for us, if we’ve accepted His Son as our personal Lord and Savior, God is always waiting to listen to our smallest request, praise, problem, or gift of thanksgiving… He’s never too busy!

“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16
