“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be given to you.” Jesus of Nazareth (John 15:7)
If this is true, then why don’t we get everything we ask for? Here’s a hint… Jesus was making a conditional promise! First we have to do our part. He said we have to remain in Him (In Christ), and His words (the Bible) had to remain in us. In other words, you first have to turn from your sins and accept Jesus’ sacrifice — asking the Holy Spirit to dwell within you. Once you’ve established the relationship with Him, then you have to search the scriptures (the Word) and begin to learn His will. How can God possibly answer prayer that run counter to His good and perfect will?
Asking your heavenly Father to answer prayers when you don’t know Him personally would be kind of like trying to get a debit card at a bank where you don’t have an account. First you have to open an account, then you have to read the rules and understand how the bank operates.
In Christ,
