But, I’m Happy!

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve heard Christians justify immoral relationships with the words, “But he (or she) makes me happy!”  Maybe you’ve heard something similar.  Such statements really show a shallowness in our walks with the Lord.  It’s not how many times we go to church that God cares about… it’s not even how well we minister for Him, or how much money we give.  If we truly are Christians, the real question is how well did we OBEY what our Lord has asked us to do.  Do we really think WE know better than GOD?  Happiness does not come from relationships, intimate or otherwise, unless it comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ.  And… even then we shouldn’t be looking for “happiness”, opting rather for the “joy” that comes from knowing the one true God.  Happiness may come and go, based on how well we manage our lives in the Lord, but JOY… now that lasts forever!  To any of my dear friends who may be headed down the “but they make me happy” road, you’re barking up the wrong tree!  Decide today to make a change.  Try Jesus my friend… and not just on Sunday!  He’s the ONLY name you can truly hang your hat (or your eternity) on!

“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.  But his DELIGHT is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.”  Psalm 1:1-2 (Emphasis mine)
