But I Thought ….

Are you ever confused by the Christian teachings? Does one minister teach one thing, and another seemingly teach another? Often the newest Christians I mentor find themselves led astray again and again by other “Christians,” having to come back to me repeatedly for an explanation or a clarification. No doubt there are some things that separate Christian denominations theologically, but most of those issues really have nothing to do with the core of the Gospel–we can only find peace with God through faith in Christ! What happens is that non-Christian teachings are dressed up as Christian and fed to those who are weak in knowledge and faith. The Scriptures are filled with examples of such teachings and because of these warnings they should be easy to spot. But that’s only true of those who’ve put in the hard work of learning the Scriptures and are able to spot counterfeit teaching. Until then, newer Christians must put themselves under the authority of faithful teachers and commit themselves to growing as quickly as possible. Like newborn deer, until we get our legs under us, we’re food for the wolves. “It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.” Ephesians 4:11-14 In Christ, PastorJimKilby @Kilbin8er Jim@JamesKilby.com

Scrub Up?

Before I became a Christian, I wanted nothing to do with Christianity or religion!  I just knew I’d have to stop doing all the “fun” things I was doing!  Controlled by the flesh, I had no concept thes

For years now I’ve been learning a little more about Jesus each and every day. I suppose I’ve learned more than the average person, but surely I’ll not understand all of His teachings while I’m in th
