If you were lost in the deepest darkest and most dangerous part of a strange forest, what would be the number one desire of your heart? With ferocious animals on both sides of the trail, if you suddenly saw a reclining chair sitting just off the path, would you stop and take a break? You may really want to relax, but at that point, comfort would get you eaten by wild animals! What you really need is light, someone to show you the way out of the woods, or at a minimum, an excellent map to safety!

Sometimes God’s Word is not very comforting to me. Frankly, it’s often flat out convicting to my soul. At those times in my life, I’ve found it’s usually not comfort I need, but rather light, a map and a guide! Comfort at the point of sin would only allow me to sin even more, giving the devil an opportunity to snare me and pull me under. What’s amazing to me is I often get to sit and chat with God-fearing men, women and even the most dedicated of church-going teens and find they don’t often find their way into God’s Word. For the serious Christian, time in the Bible isn’t a nicety; it’s an absolute MUST! Every day needs to be marked by a new adventure into the light of His Word. Pondering His ways must become an absolute obsession! Then, and only then, may we find true comfort-and true comfort is only found in the Lord.

Psalm 119:105-112  “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.  I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws.  I have suffered much; preserve my life, O Lord, according to your word.  Accept, O Lord, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws.  Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law.  The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts.  Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.  My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end.”  Psalm 119:105

Before I became a Christian, I wanted nothing to do with Christianity or religion!  I just knew I’d have to stop doing all the “fun” things I was doing!  Controlled by the flesh, I had no concept thes

“You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly?” 1 Corinthians 3:3 What a biting indictment from the Apostle Paul. Can you imagine just for a mom

For years now I’ve been learning a little more about Jesus each and every day. I suppose I’ve learned more than the average person, but surely I’ll not understand all of His teachings while I’m in th
