Credit or Debit

harvestdayton

These days, if someone does something they think is good, they’ll surely be looking to get the credit for it. In fact, rob someone of the credit for something they’ve done, and you’ll surely meet his wrath! What is it that drives us to be so prideful? Isn’t the fact that “good” was done enough? Does it really matter who gets the credit for something? The answers to those questions will surely be different, according to what a person’s religious beliefs are, but even Christians often get them wrong! (And I’m surely no exception to that rule!) Unfortunately, as humans, we are driven by our sinful nature much of the time. To quote an old time saying, “Oh, for one single Christian who doesn’t care who gets the credit for what they do!” Can you imagine what could be done for the kingdom of God if we simply did what we were told and gave God any glory aimed our way?

“So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.'” Jesus of Nazareth (Luke 17:10)
