Disconnected!

A few years ago I lost an old and dear friend because of something I did.  In my friends eyes it was probably the most terrible thing I could have ever done.  You see, we had lost touch for a couple of years because the Air Force had moved him to Korea.  Once he was reassigned to the States, he looked me up and we chatted on the phone for a few minutes.  You know the deal… How’s your family?  How’s your job?  Remember the old times?  Of course, it didn’t take long for him to realize I had changed–in a radical way! The old Jim was gone–replaced by a new, and in his eyes, idiotic, Bible totin’ Jesus freak!  Technically, our phone lines were still connected for a few more minutes, but at the moment I told him about my new friendship with Jesus Christ, my friend and I were spiritually disconnected.  One day, I pray the Lord will bring him home like he did me… until then, my new friendship is all I need!

“For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do–living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.  They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you.  But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.”  1 Peter 4:3-5
