Divide and Conquer
This day and age we live closer and closer to people, but they, more often than not, are mostly complete strangers. In fact, many people live within a few yards of dozens of people, and don’t have a friend in the world–some literally dying of loneliness. It’s interesting, whenever someone does something ignorant and gets themselves on the evening news, the media run up and down the street talking to neighbors. It always seems to be the same story. “Well, he (or she) seemed real nice… they kept to themselves a lot, but they sure didn’t seem like the kind of person who would….” I think most of our loneliness and lack of encouragement, fellowship, and mentorship is the work of the devil. “Divide and conquer,” he screams! “Divide and conquer!”
“If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:10-12
Reach out and be a friend to someone. There are people all around you looking for love–for the love of Christ you’ve been entrusted with. Please don’t keep it to yourself.
In Christ,
