Do As I Do
Those who genuinely find salvation in Christ Jesus will have evidence of it in their lives (Matthew 7:16). It’s a good thing, too, because newer Christians and even non-Christians watch and emulate our behavior. If you’ve been saved for a while, think back to when you first met the Lord? Did you look to others for the “norms” of the group? Being a mature Christian is a tough calling, but one that the Holy Spirit will give us the power to live up to if we draw close to Him. Remember the Pharisee named Paul who stood by and watched young Stephen be stoned to death. After his radical conversion, he not only says “do what I say,” but goes so far as to say “do as I do.” Would our heavenly Father be glorified if all the new Christians around you started following your example?
“Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take not of those who live according to the pattern we have you.” Phillippians 3:17
“Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. So watch yourselves.'” Luke 17:1-3
