Most Americans have far more material wealth than any other people in any other country on the globe. We’ve been blessed beyond belief, and I believe much of the blessing comes from our country’s history as a Christ-following nation. God doesn’t have a problem with people who make good money, or who’ve been blessed financially. He only wants us to share with those who are less fortunate. What’s unfortunate is that instead of sharing, many take the “look what my hands have made” approach and deny everything (even the ability to create wealth) comes from God. They also forget it is God who asks us to share. And although it may seem quite impossible at this moment, many nations who once were rich are now quite poor! As they say, “what goes around comes around.” We can only hope that others will be more generous when we find ourselves in need.
“Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality.” 2 Corinthians 8:13
