Even Strong Nations Fall

Like many people these days, I’m concerned for our nation. Frankly, I can’t even stand to watch the news any more. And just like you, I’ve heard all the political double talk I can stand! As a Christian, the really scary part is watching our government methodically dismantle our Christian heritage and turn people away from the one true God. Even beyond the obvious reasons of the social decline we’re experiencing, there’s one more reason for concern. The Bible makes it very clear that, although governments may rise to power, political power based on opposition to God’s Word cannot stand. For example, Judah fell in 587 BC and Israel in 522, for exactly that reason. I could make you a list you wouldn’t believe–All the strongest nations in the known world, until God handed them over to their enemies. “The Lord, the God of their fathers, sent word to them through his messengers again and again, because he had pity on his people and on his dwelling place. But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the Lord was aroused against his people and there was no remedy.” 2 Chronicles 36:15-16 What do we do? Seek God with your whole heart, and raise your children to fear the Lord their God. Keep the faith and share the faith with as many people as possible. And, of course, don’t ever stop praying for our nation and our leaders. It’s never too late to pray. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 In Christ, PastorJimKilby @Kilbin8er Jim@JamesKilby.com
