Focus?

Why do some people get upset about the smallest things when others seem to have incredible amounts of patience? Is it just the way they’re wired? Is it that some people are just born with more patience? Although I’m sure there is something to the whole DNA and personality trait thesis, I’m just as sure that the issue is a whole lot more reasonably distinguished by looking at what the person is focused on. For example, Jesus seems to have rarely gotten upset, and simply never lost His temper even when he did get angry. I believe it had a lot to do with the fact that Jesus came to be a servant, and not to be served. People who focus on themselves more than on others always seem to have the shortest fuses! People who are more focused on the world around them always are more level-headed and the last to get all out of whack when trouble comes. Sooo… do you have a hard time keeping your wits about you when things don’t go your way? Maybe it’s time to take your eyes off of yourself. People are simply never going to do things just the way YOU want them.

“Don’t grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door! Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.” James 5:9-10
