Funny Business

I was talking with a young lady yesterday about a school teacher of hers. Evidently, this teacher is quite into studying “holistic” health and is pushing it on the kids. She told them of being healed (temporarily) by this crystal that was held over her body. She painstakingly described how it would spin different ways when they brought near the painful area. You’ve probably heard of things like this. Lots of folks may shake this stuff off as funny business, but in my mind it runs right up there with channeling, tarot readings, physic “friends,” ouija boards and summoning the dead. All forbidden by our heavenly Father! Tell me this, who hasn’t received at least one e-mail threatening tragedy if not forwarded to other people? Where is the Spirit of God in that kind of thinking? I know our young people are inundated with this garbage, but as Christians we are simply not to have anything to do with it!

“Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God.” Deuteronomy 8:10-13
