I had some crazy stuff go on in my life when I was a child, having parents who were into alcohol, drugs, and more. As I grew older, much of what happened in my childhood made me think I wasn’t worthy to be loved by God, or by anyone for that matter. A pastor and friend of mine recently told me he believed much of the sin I fell into in my teenage years was a direct result of how I’d been raised–no father or mother to model God’s truths for me. Either way, two of my favorite books in the Bible were the two written to a young pastor named Timothy. I enjoy them because of the practical nature of what Paul was passing on to young Timothy, but also because Timothy came from a questionable background, yet was used mightily by God. If you’ve got some painful and embarrassing secrets you’re carrying with you, please know God already knows even the worst details, and He loves you just the same. If you’ll allow Him, He’ll use you just like the perfectly new creation He’s made you through His Son, Jesus Christ. “He came to Derbe and then to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy lived, whose mother was a Jewess and a believer, but whose father was a Greek.” [probably a pagan] Acts 16:1 In Christ, PastorJimKilby @Kilbin8er Jim@JamesKilby.com
