When I was young, if your telephone rang after 9:00 PM, it meant someone was either dead, or dying. These days, I’ve had people who hardly know me call my house at 3 or 4 in the morning just to ask me a question. I wonder if anyone ever stopped to think how manners and “norms” actually help to reduce stress! When everyone acts in an appropriate way, everyone else can chill a little! The opposite is also true. Just imagine how life would be if everyone drove the speed limit or used a proper vocabulary when they spoke. In many ways, that is what the Christian life attempts to provide. Not that we won’t have trouble in this life, but try to have harmony among our brothers and sisters who call on the name of the Lord.
“Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.” 1 Peter 3:8
