Before I truly knew the Lord, I would have called myself a Christian if someone asked, but I really didn’t know what I was talking about. I hadn’t really trusted in Him as my Lord and Savior, instead depending on my own ability to “be a good person.” After receiving the Truth, I’ve tried to be faithful in giving Him access to my whole life, and I’ve learned something valuable by doing so. When you step out of your comfort zone, and publicly proclaim your allegiance to Christ, people are going to hate you for it! You wouldn’t think it possible, but I’ve been called a “blankety-blank Christian” to my face more than once–and this by people who knew I was a minister. It’s almost laughable as I think about it. All those years I claimed to be a Christian but wasn’t, nobody ever gave a care about my faith (or lack thereof). Now it seems like I have a target on my chest. So… you want proof of the Holy Spirit’s work in your life and that Satan is also alive and well. Make your faith public. It’ll only take a few moments before you’re “blessed” with some persecution for His sake.
“If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.” 1 Peter 4:14
