“Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.” 1 Peter 3:8-9
That Scripture is quite convicting to me because If someone wrongs me, my immediate response is usually not good. Fortunately, growing in the Lord for many years has helped me keep things I might like to say from coming out my mouth. Most of the time I’ll be able to take some time and get some perspective before I respond. This, of course, is not the world’s model for acceptable behavior. Frankly, if someone wrongs you and you don’t rip their lips off, you’re probably not much in the eyes of the world. The more we grow and change into Christ-like believers, the more we could care less what the world thinks. And rightfully so. Friendship with the world makes us an enemy of God.
“You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.” James 4:4
