Idolatry?

“The idols of the nations are sliver and gold, made by the hands of men.  They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.  Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.”  Psalm 136:15-18

Sound like any nation you’ve heard of lately?  How about any people you’ve heard of lately?  Oh, our idols are much more sophisticated than those of ancient times, but they’re still idols.  Our favorite ones have engines, or digital signal processors, or maybe leather trim.  They’re faster, sleeker, and more technologically advanced.  Many are imported from faceless nations around the world; and just as many are made right here at home.  Regardless where they come from, they all have the same goal.  Keep us busy striving for newer and better ones while Satan destroys our families, our marriages, our lives… and gets a firm grasp on our eternities.  What’s the latest idol you’re dreaming of?  What’s the apple of your eye?

In Christ,
