It’s A Wonderful Life!

Which life would you pick?

Life #1.  You’re absolutely loaded!  You drive the newest and finest transportation available, you’ve got tons of maids and servants serving your every whim, and you’re respected far and wide.  You wear the finest jewelry and clothes, money can buy, your spouse is “gorgeous” and everybody just loves your home.  No matter where you go, you get the utmost respect from everybody.  I guess you could say everyone “worships” you.

Life #2.  You live modestly.  You don’t have a place to sleep most nights, and you’ve only got the clothes on your back.  You do have a mom, but everybody knows her husband is not your “real” father.  Most people don’t care for you and you are grossly misunderstood by the few who do like you.  Your bank account always seems to have enough money in it for food, but embarrassing as it sounds, twice just recently you didn’t have enough money to buy food for guests who came to see you.  And if it’s not bad enough, your accountant has been stealing from you.

Life #1 seems a lot like the life most Americans are dreaming of… In this example it’s the life of the man who ordered Jesus’ crucifixion–The Roman Governor, Pontius Pilot.

Life #2 would be scorned by just about any culture.  Of course, it was the life of the Savior of the world, God’s Only Begotten Son.

So which life would you pick?  Which life are you chasing?  Would you rather be wealthy in worldly terms or in heavenly terms?  Remember, you can help take the souls of friends and family to heaven with you.  That dream car or that dream house will be gone in fewer years than you might think.

“Sell your possessions and give to the poor.  Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moths destroys.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  Luke 12:33-34
