The Monday after Thanksgiving’s feast is “payday” for many of us. Often we eat more than we should, and I, for one, eat all the wrong foods! As I grow older, I’ve learned to dislike the penalty for gaining weight more and more — Dieting is never fun for me! Still, the damage is not done in a single day. The Holidays just seem to cap-off an already bad trend. Like a friend told me recently, it’s not the stuff you eat between Thanksgiving and Christmas that gets you — it’s the stuff you eat between Christmas and Thanksgiving!
As Christians, we need to be ever mindful to live lives pleasing to and honoring our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Gluttony is a sin just like any other. Moderation and sacrifice should be the first helping we serve up!
“For as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,…” Philippians 3:18-20
