Have you ever heard of Mother Goose? Ya, I thought so… I’ve heard of her, too. Still, I didn’t think I would find one of those make-believe stories in the Bible. I did though, and here it is…
“I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” Luke 15:7
Did you catch it? Well, I didn’t at first either. Maybe because it was spoken by Jesus himself – – I suppose it’s not a fairly tale, but hyperbole instead. Anyway, we’ve got more chance of running into Cinderella, Snow White, and even the Seven Dwarfs than we do of finding just one “righteous person who does not need to repent.” With the exception of Christ himself, that person does not exist!
