Pleasing God

I’ve heard many a Christian brother or sister exclaim that they want to please God with their lives. I couldn’t agree more. In fact, it’s my life goal. Unfortunately, at times I think we can try so hard to please God, that we unwittingly begin to do the opposite. We get involved in this church thing, and that ministry event, until we get to running so hard our priorities begin to break down. Think back to the last time your life got hectic.  Did your prayer life or your time in in the scriptures take a hit? What about time with your family? Was it better or worse? I know my priorities have slipped way too many times! The real problem is that we can only grow in our faith through the time we spend in prayer and in the Word. If we’re not growing, then we begin to lose ground almost immediately! If we become so zealous in serving the Lord that we forget about Him, He is not glorified–nor is He pleased. I’m not saying we shouldn’t serve the Lord with our whole heart. I’m simply saying we should set our priorities and make sure they stay in order. What mission was more important than the one Son was given by the Father?  Even He found time to get alone with the Father in prayer!

“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17

“And without faith it is impossible to please God…” Hebrews 11:6
