Righteous?

I do my best to live a righteous life, but as far as I can tell, I’ve never made it through a whole day without messing it up somewhere!  Thanks be to God that the righteousness I wear is not my own, but that of Jesus Christ.  Sure, I need to keep on trying and praying and reading and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead me, but even when I make a mistake, I’m still righteous.  All who trust in Jesus are righteous because it doesn’t rely on our deeds.  If we could have done it on our own, then Jesus would not have needed to give His life to make us right with the Father.

“But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.  This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.  There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”  Romans 3:21-24
