Sex, Blood & Idols?

I know this will make me sound like I’m really old and square, but I’m not a big fan of most of the video games I’ve seen in the last few years.  It’s not that I think they’re a huge waste of time (we all know they are), but rather that their makers are playing into our growing fascination with sex, violence and the occult.  Honestly, you can’t blame the companies for making them.  They want to make money, and the real money is in sex, blood, and witchcraft.  I thought it interesting when I found this verse from the book of Acts (below).  It was written 2000 years before any video game was invented, and was directly aimed at reminding Christians what to stay away from.

“You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols [witchcraft; the occult], from blood [they were fascinated by it, and even drank it] from the meat of strangled animals [more witchcraft and animal cruelty] and from sexual immorality [needs no explanation].  You will do well to avoid these things.  Acts 15:29

Yea… people don’t really change much, and Satan doesn’t need to either – he knows what we want whenever we choose to turn away from God and he’s quite able to deliver it in person, or via T.V., books, video games, etc., etc., etc.

In Christ,
