I think one of the first signs your heart has been inhabited by the Holy Spirit is when you become acutely aware of the sin in your life. Even after many years of being a Christian, the Holy Spirit is still revealing areas of my life and habits I have that need His light shined on them. Although I know I have power over the sin in my life through my faith in Jesus Christ, like many of you, I still find myself falling short from time to time. I’m not talking about huge sins of commission or anything (by the grace of God alone), but sin just the same. Let’s face it, the Bible is clear about it and we all know it–sin is pleasurable for a season. And Satan is a real smooth talker, too! He must have always been… he convinced one third of the angels to join him in mutiny against God.
“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, stand firm in the faith, because you know that your bothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” 1 Peter 5:8-9
