I once heard a pastor remark that most of his congregation had driven to church in stolen cars that day. It wasn’t that they had stolen them from dealerships or from other people, but something far worse. They had stolen them from the Lord. They had forsaken giving to the Lord’s work in favor of buying finer rides! While cars and “stuff” are fine when a heart is right, when a person’s heart is more concerned with them than with carrying the message of Jesus to lost and hurting people, then it proves they truly don’t understand that message. To act like that while claiming you know and love the Lord is hypocritical. It’s also the same as taking from the Lord’s portion–Something that always gets Him going!
“But the Israelites acted unfaithfully in regard to the devoted things; Achan son of Carmi… took some of them. So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel.” Joshua 7:1
