Would you consider yourself successful in life up to this point? Have you achieved the goals you’ve set for yourself? What goals have you set for the future? If people are completely honest, most of their definitions of “success” will have something to do with having the right car, the right house, the right college education, the right job, and the right number of successful kids with the right car, the right house… umm, you get the picture. I’ve seen poll after poll that say Christians just don’t have many real differences in the way they live and think than their non-Christian counterparts. If this is true, then most Christians will also measure their success by their address, and the model of car they drive. However, would that be God-honored success? “This is what the Lord says: ‘Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,’ declares the Lord.
