Suffer?

There are a lot of things I give thanks for each day, but one I rarely seem to remember. God’s Word tells us to rejoice when we “suffer” for the name of Christ! Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t like to suffer much (actually, I don’t like to suffer at all!). So is such a thing possible? I believe it is… but only if our motivations are pure and if we’re controlled by the Spirit of God. Translation: When we want what WE want, we won’t like suffering much. When we want what GOD wants, we find suffering for Him a pleasure!

“… They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. The apostles left the Sanhedrin [Jewish court], rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.” Acts 5:40-41
