The Day of the Lord

Those who’ve spent much time learning about Christianity will undoubtedly know that genuine Christ followers are anxiously expecting the glorious return of Jesus. Some spend much of their time looking for signs of His return. Still, others seem like they care very little if He ever comes back. Regardless of your expectation level, the coming of the Lord Jesus will be glorious, but it will only be a wonderful thing for those who know Him, and who’ve served Him only. Those who’ve denied Him, and those who’ve wondered from the faith will be greatly shocked and fearful. The prophet Amos spoke to a group of God’s people who had wondered from His Truth, but still talked like God was their friend and protector. By their own actions, they had become enemies of God. The same holds true of many today.

“Woe to you who long for the day of the Lord! Why do you long for the day of the Lord? That day will be darkness, not light. It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him. Will not the day of the Lord be darkness, not light–pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness?” Amos 5:18-20
