The Power of Life and Death

A friend and I were chatting the other day about how God can use the things we say to others in incredible ways. Just a few words spoken at the right time and through the Holy Spirit can change a person’s life permanently. Often, we will never even know the work He’s done through us. Recently I came across some scripture that reminded me the opposite is also true. If we allow him, Satan can use our words in an attempt to damage the kingdom of God. Listen to what happened as the Lord explained He would soon suffer and die at the hands of men:

“Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him [Jesus]. ‘Never, Lord!’ he said. ‘This shall never happen to you!’ Jesus turned and said to Peter, ‘get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.'” Matthew 16:22-23 The Bible also says we will give an account of every single word we speak — bar none! It also says the power of life and death are in the tongue… which will you be using today?
