My two youngest daughters are quite the active pair. I’ve watched my wife spend an hour cleaning their play room, only to have them completely destroy it five minutes later. It’s amazing how many toys they can play with in such a short time! I thought of their innocent “messes” as I was thinking of the way just one or two so-called “Christians” can do so much damage to the kingdom of God, in such a short time. How many of us have heard folks talk about the Lord with one breath, and then brag about sinning with the next? Don’t they understand their words and actions can keep another person from drawing near to the Lord? What’s worse, I know I’ve been guilty of this type of hypocrisy myself! Jesus had little patience for this type of “religion” and had much to say about it during His public ministry. Here’s a clear example….
“He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. Jesus of Nazareth (Matthew 12:30)
Sure, my daughters are just having fun, and aren’t to blame for their destructive ways. Many of us are guilty of similar destruction–but to the Kingdom of God. We, however, aren’t so innocent!
