If Christmas is about anything other than the birth of our Lord and Savior, then it’s about giving! Truly, God did the “giving” when He gave us His only Son. As we approach the anniversary of the evening the Angel of the Lord announced the birth of Jesus Christ, let’s focus on giving, too! Not just money or presents mind you, but giving of ourselves. We’ve all surely heard it said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive?”, but if you’ve ever looked into the eyes of someone who was truly thankful for YOU, you’ll then KNOW those are more than words–they are truth! And they should be… they’re the words of Jesus Christ.
Take a moment and consider how you might “give” this Christmas… How about contacting a local nursing home and leaving a gift for someone who doesn’t get many visitors. Or what about serving hot soup to folks at your local homeless shelter. Whatever it is the Lord lays on your heart–no matter what you decide to do, you’ll long remember it after the presents you open on the 25th have been forgotten.
“A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25
