It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the days we live in are evil. From the television to the internet, to neighbors, professors and even friends, the world is being polluted beyond belief. Since the world is controlled by Satan, this demise was just as inevitable as his is. As Christians we can be paralyzed by the evil we see if we’re not careful. We can think about it too much, as if we were able to do more than witness to the lost. We have no more control than we’ve ever had! And that stops with our ability to live simply and point others toward Jesus. When we focus on the wrong things, the wrong things begin to control us–they become like dark idols. Then, we buy into the world’s system of protections and defenses as if they had any real power. Our Lordship resides with Jesus–Let Him be our peace in times of trouble.
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me–put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:4-9
