Of all the things you possess, which is your favorite? If you lost everything, what one thing would you miss the most? Truthfully now, is it a physical possession? Are you keeping your pursuit of physical possessions in perspective? I often ask myself questions like this in an attempt to remember what is truly important. Maybe it’ll help you as well. Here’s another couple of things I’ve heard about possessions that struck me as powerful. Two were spoken by Christian friends… and one was spoken by my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Question: “What one thing can you take with you into heaven?” Answer: “The souls of other people you’ve shared the gospel with.”
“It’s not what you have that can make you evil… it’s what you love.”
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21
Of the 24 hours you have to spend today, how much will you devote to laying up treasures in heaven? How much to treasures on earth?
In Christ,
