I’ve come to the realization that a friend of mine has a problem with the truth. I’m not trying to set myself up as a judge, but reality is just that–reality! After spending enough time with people you get a sense for their trustworthiness. My friend creates truth as he sees fit. It’s as if there’s the truth, and there’s “his version” of the truth. While two people can look at the same event and see things differently, truth doesn’t have different versions. You cannot update truth. If what “was” truth now needs updating, it wasn’t truth at all! It was always something less than the truth. The Scriptures tell us that lies are of the devil, and Jesus IS the Truth. If you’ve got a problem with churning out your own special version of the truth, would it surprise you to learn that you may be unwittingly on Satan’s payroll?
“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44
