Virginity . . .

I’ve heard it said that young men play at love, for which their not ready, in an attempt to get sex.  I’ve also heard it said that young women play at sex, for which they’re not ready, in an attempt to get love.  Over the last few weeks I’ve been stung repeatedly by tearful confessions of young ladies who’ve finally given in to their boyfriend’s persistent pleas for sex.  My heart grows heavier every time.

Ladies, you were entrusted by God Himself with a gift for your husband on your wedding night.  What will you give him on that night?  Even if you marry the same young man who took your virginity, will you ever be able to trust him?  Are you impressed with his self-control?  What happens when the opportunity strikes with someone else.

Gentleman, what about you?  Are you out there trying to take something that isn’t yours?  Do you think God is smiling on you for this?  If this is how you act as you wonder through His garden, you might want to invest in an asbestos suit!  And let me ask you something else… What would you rather have happen when you drop your date off after an evening?  Would you have her drop to her knees and thank God above for a man who loves her with all that he is.  For a man who respects her and wants what’s best for her–for an incredible spiritual leader and friend.  Or, would you rather she drops to her knees and cries out, “Father, forgive me.  Forgive me for what I’ve done!”

If you’ve failed in this area, please don’t give up…. tomorrow is a new day.  If you’ve held strong, take the same advice!

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and SELF CONTROL..”  Galatians 5:22  (Emphasis mine).
