Do you ever feel like you’re all alone? I think everyone does from time to time. Even when your walk with the Lord is strong and you can feel His presence in your life there will still be stressful times–times when the truth gets distorted and you feel like it’s you against the world. The prophet Elijah found himself in a similar situation…
“… The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” 1 Kings 19:10
Stressed out or not, Elijah was definitely talking to the One who could help him. After the Lord revived Elijah and got him on the right track again, He also helped Elijah to face reality–telling him there were still seven thousand in Israel whose knees had never bowed to Baal and whose mouths had never kissed him. (1 Kings 19:18) We’re not alone either… there are many more Christian brothers and sisters in the world than the enemy would have you believe!
